Why Solar ?
In the solar industry, the most common encapsulation is with cross-linkable ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). With the help of a lamination machine, the cells are laminated between films of EVA in a vacuum, which is under compression. This procedure is conducted under temperatures of up to 150°C. One of the disadvantages of EVA films is that it is not UV-resistant and therefore protective front glass is required for the UV screening.
Once the EVA sheets have been laminated, the ethylene vinyl acetate sheets play an important role in preventing humidity and dirt penetrating the solar panels. Also with the help of the EVA, the solar cells ‘are floating’ between the glass and back sheet, helping to soften shocks and vibrations and therefore protecting the solar cells and its circuits.
Yields increased module manufacturing efficiency and productivity by shortening lamination time.
Delivers solar cell efficiency improvements via enhanced reflectivity on the back side EVA film.
Improves solar module efficiency by increasing the UV range transmittance rate.
How Solar Works ?
Our sun is a natural nuclear reactor. It releases tiny packets of energy called photons, which travel the 93 million miles from the sun to Earth in about 8.5 minutes. Every hour, enough photons impact our planet to generate enough solar energy to theoretically satisfy global energy needs for an entire year.
When photons hit a solar cell, they knock electrons loose from their atoms. If conductors are attached to the positive and negative sides of a cell, it forms an electrical circuit. When electrons flow through such a circuit, they generate electricity. Multiple cells make up a solar panel, and multiple panels (modules) can be wired together to form a solar array. The more panels you can deploy, the more energy you can expect to generate.
Photovoltaic cells absorb the sun’s energy and convert it to DC electricity.
The solar inverter converts DC electricity from your solar modules to AC electricity, which is used by most home appliances.
Electricity flows through your home, powering electronic devices.
Excess electricity produced by solar panels is fed to the electric grid.

Quality EVA film is known for its excellent durability, also in difficult weather circumstances, such as high temperature and high humidity.
Under the right circumstances, EVA film will have excellent adhesive bonding to solar glass (NOT standard glass, solar glass has a rough surface). Also EVA bonds very well to the backsheet.
EVA is known for its excellent transparency. This means that the optical transmission is acceptable and doesn’t block too much of the sunshine trying to reach the solar cells.
Highlights of Alishan EVA Films
Solar EVA sheets play an important part in enhancing the durability and performance of solar panels. They enable the solar cells to ‘float’ between the glass and the backsheet, helping to soften shocks and vibrations and protecting the cells and their circuits.

What is backsheet?
Backsheets are the outermost “layer” for a solar panel, the first line of defense for solar cells. They play a critical role in protecting solar panels from harsh, varying environmental conditions over panel lifetimes. Not all backsheets are created equal.
Alishan is bringing in the latest technology of fluoro coating on backsheet. Further we are future ready, as we can cater the demand of future PV Solar modules needing backsheets as wide as 1600mm.
Highlights of Alishan BackPro Films
Solar modules have to go through harsh environmental conditions like extreme heat & sunlight, and also excessive rain and humidity. They are expected to withstand such environmental stresses for 25 years without excessive degradation (<20%) in power for them to qualify for most applications.
Backsheet plays a key role in protecting the solar panel and giving it the required longevity. Alishan BackPro Backsheets provide everything required for protecting solar panels, such as:-
